Folk song arrangements
Since he began the series in 1974 Timothy Salter‘s arrangements of English folk songs have delighted audiences all over the world. They have been performed and broadcast by many choirs in many countries. These arrangements of traditional songs are music of the present; whilst acknowledging their debt to the collectors and composers of the early 20th century, Salter’s works often reveal a sense of gentle irony. Subtle, delicate and always drawing out the emotional nuance of the original songs, these miniature compositions are challenging and rewarding choral music.
